Santa Fe is the capital of New Mexico and is one of the best towns to spend time and explore. Whether you like staying in the city or exploring the wonderfully beautiful surrounding areas, the city is one of the best vacation destinations in the US. And in terms of Santa Fe weather, we think that the warmer months of the year are among the best times to visit.
Throughout the summer, Santa Fe, New Mexico has tons of outdoor events that you can find throughout the city.
A great many of them offer the perfect chance to pack a picnic meal and enjoy the great outdoors
The Santa Fe Opera also performs in the outdoor open-air amphitheater in June, July, and August.
What's even more special is that you can tailgate in the parking lot before a Santa Fe Opera performance begins.
If you are looking to get outside of the city, Santa Fe is also the way to go.
With incredible hiking trails such as the Atalaya Mountain Trail and Nambe Lake Trail, you will love exploring the area surrounding the city.
The Atalaya Mountain Trail is a beautiful 6.2-mile trail.
It will take you through the Santa Fe National Forest and give you unbelievable views of the city below.
Nambe Lake Trail is a more difficult hike, clocking in at almost 7 miles.
However, if you power through, you will not be disappointed. The Nambe Lake Trail will lead you up to this beautiful mountain lake and is the perfect summer hike.
And yes, it can get quite hot in the summer, so a great spot to get in the shade for a while is the State Capitol.
Although it is a place of government business, it is also one of the most magnificent art galleries in the world. Known as The Roundhouse for its circular shape, it is brimming with spectacular art exhibits that showcase a wealth of Santa Fe and New Mexico history.
