This Roadside Oddity In Nebraska Is So Unique, You’ll Stop To Look Twice
Carhenge in Nebraska is America's equivalent to Stonehenge and is worth a visit.
You're more than likely familiar with Stonehenge, the mysterious, prehistoric monument located in England. You might not have heard of America's equivalent structure: Carhenge, located just outside of Alliance, Nebraska. It may be worth a visit to see for yourself.
All 38 of the original stones of Stonehenge are replicated at Carhenge using vintage cars. Because the cars are about the same size as the stones, it is a pretty accurate replica.
Some say it's a piece of artwork, others say it's a political statement. Everyone who visits agrees that it's incredible.
Carhenge is the creation of Jim Reinders, who studied Stonehenge in England. Carhenge was built as a memorial to his late father, who once lived on the land that the monument now occupies.
The Car Art Reserve is also located near Carhenge; it includes a variety of other eye-catching sculptures.
