This Nebraska Town’s Entire Downtown Turns Into One Big Sidewalk Sale Once A Year

But that's not all this city of 7,300 has to offer. Every July, the whole city turns out to celebrate Lemon Days, an event that has come to be known as the largest sidewalk sale in southeastern Nebraska.

In 2019, the Lemon Days activities are set for July 26-28.

It's a whole weekend of fun, shopping, and activities that the whole family will love. Local hotels and inns offer special rates for people who are coming in for the weekend and want to enjoy every moment of this unique festival.

The main event is the city-wide sidewalk sale.

Local stores offer deals and surprises for shoppers. It may be called "Lemon Days," but you won't find any lemons among the merchandise here. If you've had your eye on something from a store in town, this is the perfect opportunity to go for it. You may just find it at a discount!

But the Lemon Days event isn't just about the sales.

Returning this year is the Cutest Doggie Contest which benefits the Nebraska City Tourism & Commerce's annual scholarship.

The contest runs from July 10 to July 24. Find pictures of the entrants and their corresponding jars in local banks. The public can vote for their favorite by placing a donation in that dog's jar. The dog with the most money in its jar will be declared the cutest doggie.
