With a Farmers Market, Weekly Music, and Seasonal Festival, There’s Nothing Like a Summer Weekend in This Minnesota Town

When the weather turns warm, Chisago City, MN, host many festivals and events. It's the perfect Minnesota small town for summer fun.

If you're looking for the perfect destination for a weekend getaway in the Land of 10,000 Lakes this summer, you won't need to look much further, because I've got the place for you. Chisago City is a small town in Minnesota that's an ideal spot for spending a summer weekend. With a regular lineup of annual events and entertainment, you'll find plenty to keep you occupied in this charming lake community.

Chicago City is located northeast of the Twin Cities, off of U.S. Route 8 between Forest Lake and the charming town of Lindström. Surrounded by the lakes and other charming small towns of the Chisago Lakes Region, this town is an awesome place to visit during the summer.

Moberg Park is the epicenter of summer fun in Chisago City. The park is named after the renowned Swedish author Vilhelm Moberg, who chronicled the story of a family of Swedish immigrants who left their homeland and settled in the area where Chisago City and its neighboring communities are now located. The Swedish farming heritage shows through in the region.

The town hosts a regular farmers market at its Moberg Park during the summer and early fall. It typically starts near the beginning of July and continues into October. You'll find a wide array of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as other farm products, like cheeses and meats. Many artisans and craftspeople also set up shop at the market.

In addition to the commerce, the Chisago City Farmers Market also offers art displays, children's activities, and other fun events throughout the summer. Live music of all different kinds is a staple at the farmers market.

In August, Moberg Park hosts Chisago City's annual Ki-Chi-Saga Days festival. It's a full weekend of events that includes vendors, live music, food, displays, a street dance, and, of course, a parade. A fishing contest and a fireworks show are also big draws during the weekend of festivities.

In addition to its farmers market and festival, Chisago City also hosts regular "Music in Moberg" events. During warm weather months, folks are treated to a regular lineup of concerts in Moberg Park. Genres vary widely. You may go one week and find a rock band and return the following week to the rollicking sounds of mariachi players.

In July, you can head just a little ways out of town to Winehaven Winery and its annual Raspberries and Wine Festival. The festival celebrates the winery's latest vintage of raspberry wine, and you can sample its wares while enjoying food and entertainment. Be sure to try one of Winehaven's renowned wine slushies while you're visiting. The winery also hosts other regular events throughout the summer.
