This Pumpkin Patch And Cafe With Seasonal Goodies Are The Perfect Pair For A Fall Day Trip In Minnesota

Is there really a better time than autumn in the Land of 10,000 Lakes? The weather’s cooler, but not frigid, the bugs are gone, and the foliage on the trees is blazingly beautiful. It’s also a perfect time to enjoy a little agritainment in the form of pumpkin and/or apple picking - and then sample the fruits of the season with some seasonal goodies. I think this particular pair of places blends the two quite nicely - and combined, they make for a fabulous fall day trip in Minnesota.

One of our favorite places to pick out our pumpkins in southeast Minnesota is Northwoods Orchard.

You’ll find a huge selection of your standard future jack-o-lanterns at the orchard.

But there’s always a good variety of pumpkins and gourds in other colors and sizes, as well.

Of course, it’s an orchard, so you can even pick apples if you visit early enough in the season.

If not, you can always buy pre-packed apples at the farm store,

The orchard also offers plenty of entertainment and activities, such as corn mazes, to make the trip a fun time for the whole family.

For more information, visit the orchard online, or check out the Northwoods Orchard Facebook page.

When you’ve got the perfect pumpkin and a passel of apples picked, hop back and the car and head 15 or so minutes north to Zumbrota.

There, you’ll find the Coffee Mill Cafe.

A hometown institution for about 40 years, the Coffee Mill serves up breakfast and lunch, Monday through Saturday.

All the food is scratch made, and you’ll find a regular rotation of specials, including pies, desserts, and seasonal treats. It’s the perfect place to top off your day trip.

So, what are you waiting for? Pack up the car, and hit the road on this awesome autumn day trip in Minnesota! Have you visited Northwoods Orchard near Oronoco or Coffee Mill Cafe in Zumbrota? Let us know in the comments!
