The Small Town In Minnesota That’s One Of The Coolest In The U.S.
Luverne, Minnesota, is a charming small town with historic attractions, local events, and beautiful landscapes.
When some people think of small towns, they imagine empty farmlands with not much to do. But that would be a mistake. There are actually plenty of fantastic small towns all across the country, including many in Minnesota. One of the nicest is Luverne, a small town of about 4,700 people in southwestern Minnesota. With historic attractions, plenty of events, and a gorgeous landscape, it's one of the coolest towns in the U.S.
Like many Minnesota towns, Luverne has a nice downtown lined with local businesses.
Many of Luverne's buildings were designed by an architect named W.E.E. Green. Five of his Luverne buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
One, the Palace Theater, still brings many cultural events to the small town after over 100 years.
Downtown Luverne also hosts many events throughout the year, from music to car shows to parades.
Luverne has a lot of great dining options as well. From a classic drive-in like local favorite, JJ's, to small-town diners, you'll find what you crave here.
But there's plenty to do outside of downtown, too. Luverne has several parks to help you take in the outoodrs.
Hiking and bike trails will keep you active and allow you to see the beauty of southwestern Minnesota.
...And there is a lot of beauty to see. Endless prairie fields offer a gorgeous backdrop for your time in Luverne.
At Blue Mounds State Park, the prairie combines with stunning quartzite cliffs for a truly beautiful nature experience. And you can only find it in Luverne!
