Richardson’s Candy Kitchen is another Deerfield landmark. You can’t visit town without stopping in for a sweet treat. It’s an old-fashioned candy shop where everything is homemade and fresh. There are lots of options from classic bites like chocolate turtles to fancy stuff like champagne truffles and chocolate-covered pineapple, so everyone is sure to find something delicious to snack on. If you’re craving some fresh air (or just looking to work off some of those chocolate calories), head to the Pocumtuck Ridge Trail. This 20-mile footpath extends from Deerfield to Greenfield and offers dramatic views of the Deerfield River and the Connecticut River Valley. Stop by Old Deerfield Country Store to refuel after exploring, or head to the Deerfield Inn for a sit-down meal of traditional fare in a cozy and historic dining room.
