If you love coffee, you know that it's not just for breakfast. Coffee aficionados can do with a jolt of java in the morning or afternoon. Whether you're going through caffeine withdrawals or it's a chilly day and you want to warm your hands, there's something magical about that first sip of coffee that makes life worth living. We've gathered up a few of our favorite coffee shops in Georgia for an Atlanta Java Trail that's the stuff dreams are made of if you're a coffee lover.

The trip will take you to six of the best coffee shops around Atlanta. If you do the drive all in one day, it'll require about two hours on the road, or you can always just explore them one at a time.

1. The Catfe: 426 Bethesda School Rd, Lawrenceville, GA 30044

Your first stop will be The Catfe in Lawrenceville. This is a unique spot. Many cat cafes in America feature adoptable cats from local rescues or shelters, but The Catfe's four resident cats are owned by

the cafe's owners, so you can't take them home. However, they love attention from visitors!

The Catfe is also not just a coffee shop. You'll find coffee drinks here, but also a small selection of sandwiches, meat and cheese boards, and even beer and wine. The cats are in a separate area from the food, so those with allergies don't have to worry.

2. Dancing Goats® Decatur: 419 W Ponce de Leon Ave, Decatur, GA 30030

Dancing Goats roasts sustainable, ethically-sourced coffee and has several locations throughout the Atlanta area.

After a recent remodel, the Decatur location has quite a bit of space inside to study or work. The coffee is delicious here and the interior is sleek and stylish.

3. Hodgepodge Coffeehouse: 720 Moreland Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30316

For your next stop, you'll head into the heart of Atlanta to Hodgepodge Coffeehouse. This artsy shop prides itself on being a member of the local community.

The 3,000-square-foot coffee shop features tons of natural lighting and an art gallery, plus a small market with items sold by local vendors.

4. Aurora Coffee: 468 Moreland Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307

Travel a couple of miles north to the artsy Little Five Points neighborhood and you'll find Aurora Coffee. This independently-owned coffeehouse opened up in 1992 and has been a favorite in the L5P area ever since.

There's no indoor seating, but there's a great patio area outside to enjoy your drinks, or you can walk around the shopping district and check out some of the neat local businesses while sipping your joe.

5. Read Shop by The Merchant: 4300 Paces Ferry Rd SE #125, Atlanta, GA 30339

The Vinings Village area is one of Atlanta's most charming districts. One great place to check out within the neighborhood is Read Shop by the Merchant, a delightful bookstore/coffee shop.

You'll find delicious baked goods and a cozy atmosphere, plus tasty Stumptown coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating is available.

6. Rev Coffee Roasters: 393 N, 393 Sessions St NW, Marietta, GA 30060

For the last stop on this coffee road trip in Georgia, you'll travel to Rev Coffee Roasters in Marietta. This small-batch roaster has some delicious blends.

Each April and October, Rev hosts Rev Fest, a small festival featuring art, music, and food. It's a blast and definitely worth a visit.
