While the island is mostly known for being environmentally protected due to its ecological importance, there are still 13 miles of breathtaking beaches, plus plenty of adventures that visitors can take.

But, the first thing you need to realize is that Ossabaw Island is only accessible by boat, so don’t think you can hoof it there or hop in the car and ride.

You can, however, rent a boat from Tybee Island, or of course, if you’re feeling brave you can take a kayak all the way.

Once you’re there, you can enjoy the island’s coast and natural beauty, and practically have the entire beach to yourself.

You can even plan an overnight getaway through the Ossabaw Island Foundation for a weekend or extended stay retreat on the island.

As long as you’re mindful of your surroundings and the importance this island holds in terms of nature and preservation, then you can enjoy the beautiful beaches all year long.

Please keep in mind that the inland spots beyond the dunes on the island are entirely off-limits due to the preservation efforts.
