This Scenic 13-Mile Drive Just May Be The Most Underrated Adventure In Connecticut

Connecticut Route 146 offers a beautiful 13-mile scenic drive from Branford to Guilford, featuring marshlands, seaside views, and historical buildings.

One side effect of the modern era is that we spend more time than ever in our cars (and those of us in the Nutmeg State can say most of it is spent in traffic!). But that doesn't mean you have to be stuck on a dull, monotonous highway. We've got so many scenic drives in Connecticut that are perfect for getting you to where you need to go while providing some stupendous scenery along the way. One of our favorite drives in this great state is Connecticut Route 146. This short-but-sweet path measures only 13 miles, but what a beautiful 13-mile journey it is! Check it out:

Route 146 runs from Branford to Guilford and serves as an alternate route for US-1, which runs parallel to I-95.

This is such a pretty road that over 12 miles of Route 146 has been officially designated as a state scenic route.

The portion of Route 146 that lies within Branford is called the Edward Ramos Memorial Highway after a firefighter who died in the line of duty.

Much of the road passes by beautiful bodies of water. In Branford, you'll drive by Foote Riverside Park.

There's also plenty of marshlands along the route.

It can sometimes feel like we're hurdling through life as fast as possible, but this winding road is one you'll want to take slow and gently to fully immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery.

You'll also want to keep your eyes peeled for pedestrians and bicyclists, as there are plenty along this gorgeous route.

Between the winding pathways, beautiful marshes, seaside dashboard views, and historical buildings, this is one scenic drive in Connecticut you don't want to miss!
