Growing up in New England, I must admit I am absolutely spoiled when it comes to fall foliage. Vibrant hues of crimson, amber, and gold permeate the landscape, and the sight transfixes us. After moving out west nearly two decades ago, I thought that I would never see fall foliage again (unless, of course, I made a special trip back home). Luckily, I was wrong! While a southwest state like Colorado doesn't have the sheer amount of maple trees that New England has, there are still quite a few. Additionally, the state is also home to aspens, cottonwoods, and shining willows that cause bands of gold throughout the Colorado landscape in the fall.
If you're as excited as I am to take a fall foliage road trip in Colorado, this two-day route will guide you to some of the most scenic places for autumnal colors. You can time your trip just right by using the 2025 Fall Foliage Map by Explore Fall.
