1. Van Damme State Park (Little River)
Start off your road trip to remember at Van Damme State Park. It’s a beautiful coastal area that features tide pools, a lovely beach, and deep forest hiking. It is a rare place that has all of these incredible features at once! The Fern Canyon and Pygmy Forest Trail is a truly unique experience. 2. Sonoma Coast State Park (Bodega Bay)
Next up is Sonoma Coast State Park, just about 2 hours away. This park is the perfect place for those who can’t get enough ocean views. Once you get down to the beach, you can take in the salty air and kick off your hiking boots to feel the sand between your toes. 3. Trione-Annadel State Park (Santa Rosa)
Third on your trip is Trione-Annadel State Park, only a 50-minute drive away. This state park is the right spot for those who crave wide-open spaces. You can also take a hike through the mesmerizing forest and revel in the brilliant greenery all around you as you walk along the trails. There is something magical about the moss growing on the branches that will make you feel like you’re in a storybook. 4. Bothe-Napa Valley State Park (Calistoga)
Take a quick 30-minute drive to Bothe-Napa Valley State Park for the next branch of your journey. The river makes this park an extra special place for those who love quiet water features along the hiking trails. The peaceful brook sounds will bring you a sense of tranquility as you commune with nature and enjoy its beauty. The final leg of the trip is an hour and 45 minutes away at Mount Diablo State Park. One of the most beautiful places in Northern California, the breathtaking panoramic views of the park just might make this park your new favorite outdoor destination.
