Here Are The 5 Safest And Most Peaceful Places To Live In Alaska
Lists the five safest towns to live in Alaska based on 2013 FBI crime rates.
Safety is always a priority, even in a state where the largest city has a population of less than 300,000 people. Living in an unsafe town can be a deal breaker for many families and since Alaska is made up of so many different towns, it's always nice to know what some of the safest places in Alaska really are.
According to the FBI crime rates from 2013, a little outdated but still mostly accurate, these are the 5 safest places to live in in the cities of Alaska.
1) Sitka
With a population of 9,093 there were only 7 violent crimes, 21 burglaries, and 1 report of arson in 2013! Not too bad at all. This is one of the safest small towns in Alaska.
2) Palmer
Palmer has a population of 6,453, the same as Bethel, with only half the amount of violent crimes, 20 to be exact, and 13 reports of burglary. If you’re wondering where to live in Alaska, Palmer should be at the top of your list.
3) Seward
The popular tourist town of Seward also makes the top 5 safest places to live in Alaska. With a population of 2,749 only 6 violent crimes were reported in 2013 and 1 report of robbery!
4) Juneau
I'm proud to say that Alaska's State Capitol, Juneau, makes the cut for safest places to live. The population sits around 32,946, not a bad size, but there were only 134 reports of violent crimes and 101 reports for burglary in 2013.
5) Ketchikan
Ketchikan is as beautiful as it is safe to live in. The population is 8,305 people, close to the population of the North Slope but with a third of the amount of violent crimes in 2013. Not to mention there were only 6 reports of vehicle theft that year too! This town is definitely one of the most peaceful places in Alaska.
