There is nothing quite like hitting the open road in the last frontier. 1. Chena Hot Springs Road - Fairbanks

Between miles 8 and 12 of this road there have been suspicious reports of blue, white and orange orbs of light. Maybe just the Northern Lights? We think not. They are said to appear in the sky and even follow your car during the nighttime. It's said that this happens mainly in the wintertime and after 7pm at night. 2. Birch Hill Cemetery – Fairbanks

Of all the scary places in Alaska, Birch Hill Cemetery is one of the most bone-chilling. Local reports have said that they've seen a little girl wearing a 1900s-era white dress, a floating black figure looming from afar and a little boy dressed in 1930s attire. Address: 100 City Lights Boulevard, Fairbanks, AK, 99712.

3. Moocher’s Bar – Nenana

It is reported that there is an old ghost that lingers at this little bar and can be occasionally seen causing a ruckus. She is said to turn up the volume on the jukebox and slam bathroom doors. Staff members have reported that the ghost isn't evil or scary at all. Maybe it's just a really good ghost story? Address: 814 N A, Nenana, AK, 99760.

4. Abandoned Igloo City Hotel – Cantwell

This abandoned hotel off the George Parks Highway is quite the display. People who have driven by at night have seen weird lights flickering on the inside and an apparition of a faint woman looming in the distance. Address: Mile 214.5 Parks Highway, Denali National Park and Preserve, AK 99755.

5. Eklutna Spirit Houses – Eklutna

This is likely one of the most unique and unusual graveyards in Alaska. The little spirit boxed on top of the graves contain personal items from those deceased that lay in the ground. Those that practice the Eklutna religion (which is a combination of Russian Orthodox and Eskimo beliefs) believe that the souls of the dead wander for 40 days, looking for their personal items. The boxes were made in an attempt to keep their souls from wandering. Address: Eklutna Village Road, Chugiak, AK, 99567.

6. Ship Creek – Anchorage

At Ship Creek in Anchorage it is said that you will find the ghost of a native Alaskan named Marie, who was murdered in this area in 1987. When you're adventuring downtown, be on the lookout and be careful where you step.

7. Historic Anchorage Hotel – Anchorage

People have reported seeing a woman in a white dress in the hallways, the first police chief of Anchorage that died inside the building years back and even children. There are so many ghost sightings here, they have to keep a log in the front lobby! Address: 330 East Street, Anchorage, AK, 99501.

8. Alyeska Resort – Girdwood

This luxury resort is certainly not known for being haunted. But it is said that a man named Chris who committed suicide here haunts rooms 721 and 515. Rumor has it that he turns the television, lights and water faucets on and off. Address: 1000 Arlberg Avenue, Girdwood, AK, 99587.

9. Buckner Building – Whittier

Likely the creepiest thing you'll encounter in Whittier is this old abandoned building that sits multiple stories high. A gate surrounds it today so that outsiders can't access and snoop around. This building was finished in 1953 and was built so strong so that it could withstand bombs from the Cold War. Today the only things that remain are terrifying spirits and graffiti clad walls. The Buckner Building is one of the spookiest abandoned places in Alaska. Address: Blackstone Road, Whittier, AK, 99693.

10. Begich Towers – Whittier

In this tiny town where the entire population is said to live exclusively in this building, it's a given that some pretty creepy stuff can happen. It's said that one of the many ghosts that haunt this building is found whistling for hours on end, night after night. Address: 100 Kenai Street, Whittier, AK, 99693.

11. Van Gilder Hotel – Seward

The locals tell a story of a gal named Fannie who died here in the 1950s, but never left. She is said to haunt the halls and specifically room #209. Address: 308 Adams Street, Seward, AK, 99664.
