Of all the Oktoberfests in Texas, none quite compare to the Fredericksburg Oktoberfest. Since 1980, this tiny German town has been welcoming autumn with a lively tribute to its cultural heritage, and you're invited to join in the fun! With games, music, dancing, traditional foods and beverages, and more, the festival offers a wholesome good time for the whole family.
The Fredericksburg Oktoberfest is among the most lively weekends in this tiny Hill Country town.
The three-day event celebrates Fredericksburg's rich German heritage and status as the "Polka Capital of Texas," with food and fun galore.
Five stages of entertainment host talented performers of all kinds. You will hear yodelers, orchestras, brass bands, and - of course - plenty of traditional polka music.
Dance the night away, whipping and twirling as the tunes fill your ears. You can even enter a waltz contest - try not to have two left feet!
Between the Old-World architecture and authentic aromas wafting through the air, you'll feel like you've stepped into a quaint German village. Bratwurst, schnitzel, and lots of beer from Texas breweries are on the menu.
Other activities include games, a family dirndl & lederhosen contest, chicken dancing, 5K and 8K runs, and more.
There will also be tons of unique souvenirs available to remember the festival by!
A designated area for kids will feature face painting, games, a stilt walker, and more, and festive photo ops allow you to take pictures for posterity's sake.
So if you can only attend one fall festival in Texas this year, make it the Fredericksburg Oktoberfest. It's so much fun for all ages!
Visit the festival's website or Facebook page for more information, including this year's dates and a full schedule of events.
