Insane asylums are already creepy enough, but what about when the patients are free to roam the halls as they please? Former residents of Dr. White's Sanitarium in Wichita Falls are bound to be filled with anger - especially those who died from inhumane experiments performed on them. And since they weren't confined to a single cell, their spirits could be anywhere in the entire building... so beware of this haunted abandoned asylum in Texas.
Dr. White's Sanitarium, better known as the Old Asylum, opened its doors to the severely mentally ill of North Texas in 1926.
It was different than most asylums in that the patients weren't locked in cells for most of the day. They slept in normal bedrooms and had access to much of the building - almost like a residential treatment center with the goal of rehabilitation rather than institutionalization. While that was most definitely a positive thing, it means their spirits are roaming the halls as we speak instead of being confined to a single room.
This is the living room of the now abandoned asylum in Texas, where the residents spent much of their time. Paranormal investigators have reported a lot of activity here, including fully-charged electronics losing power as well as feeling rushes of cold air. A possible explanation for the battery shortages is that spirits sometimes take energy from whatever source they can in order to manifest.
Libraries are already creepy enough as it is, so a library in an insane asylum has to be one of the spookiest places on the planet. Crews took EVPs in this room and heard the voices of both children and adults as well as an old-fashioned bicycle horn despite nobody else being in the building.
Check out this video of a paranormal crew investigating the asylum. It's hard to ignore this evidence:
