Here Are 14 Things You’ll Never Catch Anyone From Dallas – Fort Worth Doing
When you were born here … or came to your senses and moved here as soon as you could… Texas oozes pride in our Lone Star State. The same is true about living in Dallas – Fort Worth. Yes, we know that sometimes life happens and you may have to move away, but whether you are a for-lifer or have experienced living in North Texas, here are things you’ll never catch anyone from Dallas – Fort Worth doing:
1. Talk down Texas... it's practically a felony around here.
If you don't have anything nice to say about the Metroplex or our state, we'll gladly help you with an exit strategy.
2. Compare Texas to Oklahoma.
It's true the Red River divides us and Oklahoma is like a sibling, but don't misunderstand. You must choose Texas over Oklahoma... whether it's college rivalries, food, landscape, or air. Texas, oh Texas, all hail the mighty state ...
3. We don't diss our hometown.
Any part of the Dallas - Fort Worth area is wonderful. Each city around here is memorable in its own way. You may have your bias for whether you prefer Dallas or Fort Worth, Arlington or Southlake, McKinney or Hurst, but we're part of a brotherhood/sisterhood around here.
4. Never turn down a Texas T-bone...
5. ...or barbecue...
6. ...and certainly NEVER Tex-Mex.
7. Don't disrespect cowboys...
Our legacy came from the Wild West and cattle drives.
8. ... or the Dallas Cowboys.
9. Don't you dare root for the Washington Redskins.
This NFL team is our Public Enemy No. 1.
10. Poke fun at "unique" senses of style.
Even if we are no more cowboy than your great grandma in Philadelphia, we like to add our Texas twang to things. Just go with it.
11. Hurt or abuse our furbabies.
Our animals are family. In fact, we are known for heroic acts when rescuing pets and livestock whenever weather conditions or circumstances call.
12. Turn down an opportunity to help others.
The Metroplex is filled with helping hands and generous hearts, volunteering with both money and time to make our area a better place for all.
13. Stereotype our landscape.
Texas has it all: oceans, forests, plains, farmland, hills, lakes, and streams. You can find diverse geographical terrain even across Dallas - Fort Worth. We don't let anyone get away with calling our terrain flat and boring. In fact, we like to boast about how our state has about every type of landscape Mother Nature can create.
14. Disrespect our elders.
DFW folk love their families and senior members are particularly well-loved and respected. We know how much they sacrificed to bring us to the lifestyle we enjoy today.
