These 2 Barbecue Restaurants In Texas Are Some Of The Best In America
Barbecue is a big deal here in Texas. There are several iconic places that tend to get most of the attention, but it’s important that we don’t leave out the smaller, lesser-known joints that are just as good. According to Yelp, Brotherton’s Black Iron in Pflugerville and Taylor’s Smokehouse in Hillsboro are some of the best barbecue restaurants not only in the state, but in the country. That’s a big deal, y’all.
Brotherton's is committed to serving up handcrafted, local, and seasonal eats that can win over even the pickiest of eaters.
Their menu is fairly limited, but for a good reason - so that as much time and attention as possible can be devoted to making each individual item absolutely delicious.
About nine items are offered on a daily basis, eight sandwiches and a market-style barbecue spread like the one shown above. It includes several different types of meat and a few sides. I don't know how one restaurant can master cooking chicken, sausage, and beef, but Brotherton's has done just that - everything is tender, juicy, and flavorful as can be.
Sandwiches are the star of the show here, and this Texas Reuben leaves no questions as to why. Piled high with meat, sauerkraut, cheese, and dressing, you'll be wishing you ordered two no matter how full you are after finishing.
Specials are offered from time to time as well, like this loaded baked potato. Filled with chopped brisket, butter, shredded cheese, sour cream, and scallions, this baby is sure to give your taste buds a one-way ticket to heaven.
Taylor's is another highly underrated barbecue restaurant in Texas. All their meat is smoked over real wood, and you can definitely taste the unique and authentic flavor that seems to develop more and more with every bite.
Brisket is their specialty - it's so good, you won't even need sauce! You will, however, need sides. Leaving without a taste of that creamy mac 'n cheese would be nothing less than criminal.
If you prefer your BBQ in sandwich form, they've got you covered! Stick that meat on a bun with some pickles and onions, and you've got yourself a delicious meal that will satisfy every craving.
