You don’t have to travel far in order to experience one of the United States’ most gorgeous sights. Enchanted Rock sits just an hour and a half outside of Austin in Fredericksburg. This scenic marvel is perfect for a day trip, and its history is fascinating. One of the oddest geological wonders is located right here in Central Texas.
The journey is part of the adventure. These lonely, quiet roads showcase all of Central Texas' beauty, and you'll want to soak it all in.
It's taken a billion years for this pink dome to form. Hot magma was buried under the earth's surface and slowly pushed toward to the ground. As the magma slowly cooled, granite started forming.

The granite has cracked throughout the years, leaving gorgeous tracks behind. Visitors love hiking and exploring these stunning trails.
There's even more hiding below ground. Enchanted Rock is part of a batholith, and this one stretches over 62 square miles.
Enchanted Rock is swirling with folklore and legends. Tonkawa, Apache and Comanche tribes believed the rock had magical powers and could protect their people.
