10 Movies You Might Not Have Known Were Filmed In Texas
Texas might not compare to the bright lights of Hollywood, but many a big-name movie has actually been filmed right here in the Lone Star State. Surprised? So was I..but then again, Texas seems to be the home of many awesome things, so why shouldn’t movies be included in that list? Here’s some of the most notable movies filmed right here in Texas:
When you think of a coming-of-age classic that perfectly defines the slacker generation, this movie should come to mind. Believe it or not, it was filmed right here in Austin, Texas!
This popular crime thriller anthology was partially filmed in Austin, too.
What better place than Texas is there to film a movie about football? Exactly why this was filmed in several cities here, such as Austin, Houston, Odessa, Elgin, Abilene, and Taylor.
While some of this was shot in Hawaii, 60% of it was shot in various locations in Texas, including screenwriter Robert Rodriguez's studio in Austin and also at Canyon Lake Gorge.
Another movie partially filmed in Texas, the fourth installment of the action movie Transformers was shot in both Austin and Lockhart.

While not all of this epic movie was shot in Texas, there were a few establishing scenes filmed in Denton and also, of course, at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. I mean, isn't it just fitting that a movie about a giant asteroid be filmed in an equally giant state? Makes sense to me.
