The Small Town In Tennessee That Is Home To 4 Breathtaking Waterfalls
Small town Tennessee is best known for its sense of community and the churches that are stuffed with locals come Sunday morning. The deep south is rich with fun folks and community, so much so that sometimes visitors forget about the beauty that surrounds them. Tullahoma, Tennessee, located in the southern half of the state, has fewer than 20,000 folks that live within city limits and a solid number of waterfalls to go around. Get away from the hustle and bustle of small town living and head to the wilderness, folks. You won’t regret it!
Tullahoma, Tennessee is beautiful in its own right, natural waterfalls or not. The city limits encompass a stretch of southern Tennessee that boasts broad, wildflower-studded fields and water-infused gorges that are truly breathtaking. But if you're looking for a few waterfalls? Well then, Tullahoma is the place to be.
Machine Falls is located in the Short Springs State Natural Area, and can be found on the 4.1 mile Machine Falls hiking loop. Moderately trafficked and great for folks of all skill levels, we'd highly recommend this hot spot for families and avid outdoorsman alike. Plus, that view? Incredible.
Ovoca Falls is actually located on private property, so unless you're lucky enough to know that folks that call it their own you're about out of luck. Still, it represents the illustrious, watery beauty of Tullahoma so well!
Wetumpka Falls is a bonus, located just outside of the city in Lynchburg. It is a beautiful place to visit, however, if you're okay to pop outside of the city limits for a hot second. We'd highly recommend it as a day trip.
Rutledge Falls is also located on private property, but the owners are quite gracious when it comes to visitors. Folks are encouraged to visit from dawn until dusk, and the natural area is great for swimming in the swimming hole, picnicking or hiking. There's no camping though, and make sure to clear out come sunset!
What do you think? Will you be heading to Tullahoma anytime soon? If you're an avid nature enthusiast, we'd highly recommend it!
