What You'll Discover In This Deserted Tennessee Town Is Truly Grim
What you’ll find in this Tennessee ghost town is grim, all right. As in, you’ll find positively nothing. Empty, but for the echoes of once-upon-a-time vacationers, the wind rustling through scattered leaves on the ground, completely devoid of humanity. Curious about the tale of Elkmont, Tennessee? The East Tennessee vacation spot that the world left behind? We’ll let you see for yourself, if you’d like.

Don't get us wrong, the surrounding area is gorgeous. As is all Tennessee, but Elkmont really does have a bit of a step up on the rest of the state.

As you can see here, in 1915, the town has grown considerably as it makes its way towards the peak of its success.

This is the Avent Cabin, which is the only structure that survives from the pioneer period.

It's the resort community, however, not the history, that gives us a bit of a chill.

The cottages have been abandoned for years, and it's an eerie thing to take a walk down deserted streets.

As you can see here, the inside of the cabins have fallen into disrepair.

Although they still look stunning in the midst of our gorgeous greenery.

Personal items, such as this piano, are scattered throughout the area. Most have fallen prey to scavengers in recent years, however.

The sweet places look unassuming, and there is a draw - the Elkmont Cottages were placed on the National Registrar of Historic Places in 2004.

There has been talk of moving in and rejuvenating the air. Perhaps breathing life into what used to have none.
This sends chills up our spines…but we’d still go!
