What Tennessee’s Major Cities Looked Like In 1935 May Shock You. Crossville Especially.
There’s something fascinating about a ream of photos from long ago – especially if they’re taken in places that you know and love. We’ve found a couple of shots from across Tennessee in 1935, documenting the lives of Tennesseans long before we could record their actual stories. Most of these lives have run their course, leaving only a black and white behind. What a strange, wonderful thing.

These women here are attending a religious meeting, waiting for it to start.

Farmers are gathering here in Camden, Tennessee.

The ladies, waiting in the shade.

These photos of Crossville before it was the place YOU know are so interesting!

A medicine show caused crowds to gather in the square in Huntington.

A happy older man from 1935 Huntington.

If you couldn't tell this is a shot of Memphis' great Mississippi, we'd be a little weirded out. To be honest.

A quick smoke before gettin' back to it on the river.

The square looks a tad bit different today. Just a little.
