This Island In Tennessee Is An Absolute Must Visit

Oh man. We got you with that title, didn’t we? You probably thought we had some here islands in our landlocked state of Tennessee…which, to be completely honest, we probably do, like some tiny little landmasses with names that are easy to forget. The places kids tramp or that kind of well-known spot near your home town. But here, we’re going for the big dogs. Rock Island State Park in Tennessee actually gets its name from nearby Rock Island, named for a little spot of land in the middle of Caney Fork River. Here’s the thing – these pictures are comin’ at ya. Right now.

During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.

We may be landlocked, but even our island fake-outs are solid. Leave your favorite memory from Rock Island State Park in Tennessee in the comments!

June 15, 2021

What is the most beautiful park in Tennessee?

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is considered not only one of the most beautiful parks in Tennessee but in the United States. It also experiences the most visitors of any national park in the country. Over 12 million people come here annually to see the beautiful vistas, mountain ranges, forests, and waterfalls that make this park the breathtaking place it is, and if you haven’t yet been, you need to make plans to go.

What are the best state parks in Tennessee?

Tennessee’s wild beauty gives way to some incredible state parks that should be placed on everyone’s bucket list. Harrison Bay State Park is the oldest state park in Tennessee and also one of the lesser-known. Situated on Lake Chickamauga, you can enjoy beautiful water views as you camp or dine at the restaurant in the park. Ample opportunities for water recreation and hiking are also available. Best of all, this park doesn’t get the crowds that others around the state get. Another little-known park is Big Hill Pond State Park in McNairy County and it’s surrounded by Cypress Creek, Tuscumbia River, and Travis McNatt Lake. If you love being around water, this is the park to visit!

Where can I see waterfalls in Tennessee?

Some waterfalls are easier to get to, so if you don’t want to hike too far, visit these six easy-access waterfalls. Cummins Falls State Park even has a swimming hole at its waterfall so feel free to bring your swimsuits!
