Summer is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the pristine water of Tennessee’s many lakes and rivers. But who wants to just sit still when you could be racing down adrenaline-inducing Class IV rapids? The folks at Ocoee Rafting in Ducktown are here to help, offering some of the most intense and most popular rafting excursions in the entire country. Here are just a few reasons why you should book your trip today.

Ocoee Rafting in East Tennessee has been serving up tours down the famous Ocoee River since 1976, making them the oldest company on the river. These guys are professionals and are definitely part of the reason the Ocoee is one of the most popular whitewater spots in America.

The river itself features continuous Class III and IV rapids (on a scale of I - V), giving all rafters an exhilarating and intense ride. If you need to slow your heart rate on the trip, the river runs through the scenic Cherokee National Forest, so there's plenty of serene wilderness to take in.

Fun fact: The Upper Ocoee River was the site of the kayaking competition in the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics! How often can you say that you've done Olympic-level whitewater rafting?

The lovely folks at Ocoee Rafting know that this isn't an everyday experience, so they provide everyone with life jackets and training, making their whitewater tours available for everyone from professionals to first-timers.

The company offers three different rafting trips, available at varying times of the year. The Middle River is their most popular and lasts about 3 and a half hours, but they also offer a longer trip that combines the Upper River with the Middle, making for a 5 hour experience of almost non-stop rapids.

Since water levels and temperatures affect the ability to raft the river, the company only offers tours on the weekends in April, May, September and October. For June, July, and August, they offer trips every day of every week except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Prices range from $25 to $90 depending on the section of the river, the day of the week, and the time of the year.

What are you waiting for? Grab your swimsuit and river shoes and head on over to Ocoee Rafting at 1548 Highway 68, in Ducktown.
