The state of Tennessee is known for its family-owned businesses and comfort food eateries, but there is only one restaurant that can hold the title of the oldest in the state and that's Varallo's. Family owned, operated, and run, this Nashville, Tennessee-based eatery maintains quality with an element of local history right in the midst of the city's bustling downtown. Chili is the name of the game at this quiet Nashville restaurant, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Varallo's is located in Nashville, Tennessee, and is known as the oldest restaurant in Tennessee. It was first founded as a chili parlor by Frank Varallo, Sr. in 1907.
Frank Varallo, Jr. took over for his father in 1929, and eventually, a second location was opened that operated from 1994 to 1998. At one point, two Varallo's locations were operated in the city of Nashville.
Now you can visit the no-frills luncheonette on 4th Street only, right in the heart of the city's downtown. You'll find that the eatery is famous for all-day breakfast, chili...
...daily blue plate specials, fries, burgers, and sandwiches.
We recommend trying out the chili that made the eatery famous, though there's something on the menu for everyone. The quality is top-notch and tastes homemade, and the price in downtown Nashville truly can't be beaten.
The meat-and-three eatery is conveniently located and easy on the wallet, and it's perfect for a quick breakfast or lunch if you find yourself in the city.
Varallo's is currently open from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday.
Curious about Varallo's? You can learn more bout this historic locale both on its official Facebook page and website. If you haven't been to the oldest and one of the most reputable spots in Tennessee just yet, then we have a feeling you're going to want to plan a trip...then a trip back, just for kicks.
You can continue to experience the fun of a Tennessee summer with a visit to these fun spots throughout the state.
