Humphreys Street Coffee Shop is a social enterprise born out of Harvest Hands, CDC. 100% of the company's profits are reinvested into a series of scholarships and local programs that support the students the shop employs. Harvest Hands itself has worked hard in recent years to create jobs and mentorship opportunities that empower youth early on toward effective future roles in society.
The coffee shop hires local teenagers that are then trained in a highly skilled craft, one that may center on anything from marketing to customer service. Employees are also given the chance to take part in financial literacy training, trade school options, and college tours.
Your cup of coffee buys a whole lot more than a quiet afternoon at the shop. Mayorga Organics has donated green coffee beans straight from the heart of Latin America for Humphreys Street employees to roast, which in turn means that more profits are given back to the south Nashville community.
At the shop itself, you'll find a sophisticated coffee menu that runs the gamut from iced mochas to pour-overs, and the pastry case offers a series of locally-made goods.
