You’ll Never Forget A Trip Through This Old Gem Mine In Tennessee
If you’re headed to Pigeon Forge, you’re most likely looking for Dollywood or some kind of hike up in the mountains. But what about a trip to this pseudo-gem mine? It sounds (and looks!) pretty dang strange, but we’re here to say: this is the hidden gem (cough) of east Tennessee. Great for families of all shapes and sizes, we’d recommend mining at the Pigeon Forge Gem Mine any day.

Although quirky and definitely down home, this is one of the sweetest stops for your kiddos if you're trekking through the east side of the state. Get 'em out of the car and on their feet, where they'll get to learn about Tennessee mining history and - yep. Try it out themselves.

You'll get to buy by the bucket, and sort through all sorts of neat rocks and goodies. If it sounds a bit vague, that's because it most definitely is. There is no company website, although you can call for clarification, but otherwise your experience is completely up to you - and a total surprise.

We've spoken to multiple folks - families and couples alike - who rave about the exciting prospect of gem hunting, and how much their children loved the whole experience. The staff are kind and knowledgable, a solid group of Tennesseans that truly love what they do.

What will you find...?

You'll be able to identify your treasures, and take them home. Isn't that the best part!?

This isn't just a "stop along the way," friends. This is where you come to make (quirky) memories. Fall in love with a bit of our past, and take a chance. You won't regret it.

Open from 9am to 8pm Sunday to Saturday, you can find this impressive and extremely fun spot at 2865 Parkway in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Happy mining!
