For those in East Tennessee, chances are this little stand needs no introduction, but for those of you who have yet to discover the greatest donut of all time, allow us to tell you about Auntie Ruth in Limestone, Tennessee. If you have been to Troyer’s, chances are you’ve seen a line in the parking lot leading to a little stand. There is a good reason for the wait too because Auntie Ruth’s donuts & pretzels are simply the best and all it takes is one bite of these soft delectable delicacies and you will soon be singing praises as well.
Right next to Troyer’s is a little replica of the iconic red building called Auntie Ruth's.
The similarities do not stop there, however, because the people behind Troyer’s are one big family. They have worked hard to not only produce the best country store but also the best roadside stand that delivers warm and delicious donuts. If you have been before then you know just how good this little stand is. Just looking at the beautiful red and black structure makes my mouth water just a little bit. Whenever I have people that visit from out of town we make a point to bring them to this marvelous mainstay.
They are not a one-trick pony either; you can also get pretzels at Auntie Ruth's!
In fact, those pretzels are highly sought after, maybe even as much as the donuts! These pretzels are made fresh in the little kitchen and the smell alone is enough to lure you in. Not only are these soft bread pretzels some of the best tasting, but they are also huge -- just one pretzel is bigger than your head! This is my favorite item on the menu, there is nothing like a warm soft pretzel dipped in yellow mustard. We are truly blessed in East Tennessee to have such a euphoric experience right in our own backyard.

Another surprise item is the pretzel dog. The pretzel dog is a hotdog with melted cheese and wrapped with their signature pretzel. It is a perfect harmony of flavors with every bite.
This is another one of my favorites around lunchtime. The medley of flavors makes a perfect meal and the prices make these treats incredibly reasonable. You may even be tempted to try one of everything, which is doable without breaking the bank. It's a win for your tastebuds and your wallet!
However, the real star of the show belongs to the donuts. Talk around town will tell you everything you need to know about these warm delicacies. Don't believe me just ask around and you will hear time and time again just how good the donuts at Auntie Ruth's really are. They have become a Tri-Cities favorite.
Each donut is handmade from a longstanding family recipe and they are made right on site, so every donut is as warm and fresh as it gets. The chocolate donuts are bigger than your hand and you’ll probably need two of them just to eat one. Then again they are so good you might want to just buy your own. After the first bite, you most likely will just want the whole donut to yourself. I can't blame you, I would do the same thing.
These glazed donuts are hung and their sweet glaze drips down in the dreamiest, most decadent way. You will certainly be glad you have such a big donut to eat because once you reduce this treat to crumbs, you will be dreaming of when you get another one. You can always buy two and save one for later too.
Chocolate and glaze may be the flavors that are best sellers but whenever you go you never know what kind of flavors they might be offering. Trust us when we say whatever they are selling you will want to buy. They simply are the best donuts around and we are thankful they also call Tennessee home.
