Located in Tipton County, one of the five Tennessee counties along the Mississippi River, Covington is only a couple of miles from the muddy expanse. The Hotel Lindo, above, was completed in 1901 and is noted for its Italianate and Romanesque architecture.

The city is said to have been named in honor of General Leonard Wales Covington, an American officer during the War of 1812. The statue above, however, is that of a Confederate soldier, and the inscription reads: "Nor braver bled for a brighter land, nor brighter land had a cause so grand."

Take a visit out to Patriot Park, where you can find an A-4L Skyhawk Attack Bomber, one of the planes utilized in the Vietnam War.

The third courthouse of Tipton County, this lovely brick building in Covington may be darling - but it's missing a clock tower. And you can thank the tornado that came through and rendered it useless, causing the town to retire the timekeeper.

The historic Ritz Theatre is sure to show up in quite a few pictures as you wander around town. The art deco theatre is quite the beauty, don't you think?

A water tower town, a sweet place, a wonderful spot to enjoy an unseasonable warm autumn, you can visit the Covington town museum for a bit of Tennessee soaked history and wander the darling streets to pretend you've somehow, someway, made it back in time.
