Sleep In A Yurt On The Shores Of A Private Beach At This Quiet Campground In Washington
Skamokawa Vista Park in Washington offers unique yurt camping with private beach views along the Columbia River.
If you're the camping type, you already know that Washington has some incredible campgrounds. In fact, there are a few spots in the Evergreen State where you can camp right on the beach. However, nothing can quite compare to the setup at Skamokawa Vista Park. Not only can you camp inside a cozy yurt, but you can also do it all while looking outside at your own private little beach.
Skamokawa Vista Park sits tucked away in the tiny community of Skamokawa, which is located on the Columbia River right by the Oregon border.
Vista Park opened in 1981 on a 75-acre site along SR4. And despite its highway location, this is truly a hidden gem if we've ever seen one.
You certainly won't find much in Skamokawa, but the Vista Park is a top attraction.
Whether you're just using it for the day or spending a night or two, the park's lush greenery and waterfront location will make it tough to leave.
If you do decide to camp, you can do so in a tent, RV, or even a tipi...
... but your best option, hands down, is to stay in one of the yurts.
Each yurt includes a bunk bed, a futon (which folds out into another double bed), electric heat, electrical outlets, and outdoor picnic tables and fire pits.
You can rent the 16-foot yurt for $55 per night or spring for a 20-foot yurt for $65 per night.
Your pet can even join you for a small $10 pet fee.
As unique as staying in a yurt feels and as nice as it is to be surrounded by nature, it's the beach views that will keep you coming back for more.
Pull up a lawn chair, sit down, and listen to the cool, calm Columbia River flow by.
As you can imagine, this place is pretty popular, especially in the summertime.
Luckily, you can make reservations up to a year in advance.
