When you want to admire the natural beauty of the Beehive State, the Nebo Loop Byway is one of the best scenic drives to take in Utah. This 38-mile road takes you to gorgeous overlooks, must-do trails, and even a beautiful campground. Payson Lakes Campground is found on this scenic byway in Utah and it is one of the best places to spend your summer. With dozens of campsites, three small lakes, and natural beauty everywhere you turn, this is easily one of the best campgrounds in Utah.
Payson Lakes are actually three small lakes that are tucked away in a canyon and surrounded by aspen and fir trees. When you visit, you’ll often see people swimming, rafting, canoeing, and fishing.
While you can always visit just for the day, stay at the Payson Lakes Campground for an overnight stay, a weekend, or even an entire week.
There is a 16-day stay limit at this Utah campground.
This is no small campground. In fact, you will find 98 single campsites that have a capacity of 8 campers, 10 double campsites with a capacity of 16 campers, and three group campsites.
This campground is perfect if you want to disconnect and get away from the stresses of the real world. Payson Lakes Campground has no hookups and phone service is not available. However, if you do need to connect and enter the real world for even a few minutes, you can travel approximately 12 miles to the nearby town of Payson.
During your camping adventure, you can always relax next to the fire ring. All campsites feature a picnic table and fire pit. There is also drinking water and flush/vault toilets scattered around the campground as well.
While this is a large campground, it is also a popular one. Reservations are highly recommended and must be made at least five days in advance.
When you are not at your campsite, you can always spend your time on the water ...
... or just enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds you. There is a paved walkway that takes you all around a lake. This is great for a family walk or just for a delightful morning activity.
