The Most Terrifying Ghost Story To Ever Come Out Of South Dakota Is Truly Chilling

The Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City is a historic and supposedly haunted hotel known for its paranormal activity, especially on the eighth floor.

Do you believe in ghosts? If so, you've definitely got to visit this haunted hotel. If not...a stay here just might change your mind.

The Hotel Alex Johnson is a beautiful, historic hotel located at 523 6th Street in Rapid City.

It opened on July 1, 1928, and it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. While the hotel is quite old, it's been remodeled and is a luxurious, modern place to stay now...if you dare. The hotel is supposedly haunted.

If you're very, very brave, you'll ask for a room on the eighth floor.

Guests report quite a bit of paranormal activity on this floor, and it's the floor where a young bride died in the 1970s.

The woman, who was staying in room 812, crashed through one of the room's windows, falling eight stories to her death. She was still wearing her wedding gown.

When police entered her room, they found no sign of the groom - just a torn up photo of him, along with a hanging noose.

The death was ruled a suicide, but the bride's friends insisted there was no way she would kill herself. Some speculate that the woman was killed by her groom in order to take her inheritance, which she may have had in cash at the hotel that fateful night. No one will ever know the true circumstances surrounding the woman's death, but it's said that she roams the eighth floor, looking for her killer.

Some guests say that they've been awakened in the middle of the night by someone sitting down on the end of their bed.

They see flashes of white moving between the two windows. Some have even reported seeing the woman herself.

This long hallway opposite room 812 is said to be haunted by the Lady in White.

Guests report hearing her footsteps late at night, cold spots all along the hallway and some even claim to have seen her walking down the hall, the train of her wedding gown trailing behind her.

The Lady in White isn't the only ghost at the hotel. Alex Johnson himself is said to haunt the third floor, and his daughter, who died at the hotel as a child, is believed to haunt the eighth floor.

The hotel offers special Ghost Adventure Packages, which include a stay in one of the haunted rooms, a K2 meter (to pick up paranormal activity) and other amenities such as meal credits. Visit the hotel's website for more details, room rates and reservations.
