If primitive camping isn't quite your cup of tea, then a glampground or a miniature cabin is just what you need.
For Ohioans who love the natural beauty of our state but don't want to get too close to it, there's a certain way to camp. The following are eight unique campgrounds in Ohio that are perfect for those who hate camping.
1. Austin Lake RV Park & Cabins (Toronto)
Austin Lake RV Park & Cabins in Toronto, Ohio features a gorgeous lake, plenty to explore and miniature cabins with more amenities than you would expect. 2. Nomad Ridge at The Wilds (Cumberland)
Experience glamping at its finest on the grounds of Ohio's own safari. This luxurious private yurt features running water, Asian-inspired decor and a personal deck next the Wilds’ animal pasture areas. The Wilds is located at 14000 International Rd., Cumberland, OH 43732.
3. Kelleys Island State Park (Kelleys Island)
Kelleys Island State Park features two yurts that sleep up to six. Each yurt features an efficiency kitchen, private bathroom with shower and a furnished living/dining area. Kelleys Island State Park is located at 920 Division Street Kelleys Island, OH 43438.
4. The Mohicans Treehouses (Glenmont)
In addition to the great outdoors and beautiful cabins, The Mohicans in Glenmont feature some mind-blowing tree houses (complete with electricity, heat, AC and running water) available for overnight stays. 5. Clay's Park Resort (Lawerence)
The canvas cabins at Clay's Park Resort in Lawrence is "where comfort meets a starry night." With custom, Amish built log furniture and wood platforms, these canvas tents feature one queen bed, one set of bunk beds and a trundle bed. 6. Ravenwood Castle Gypsy Wagons (New Plymouth)
For a truly unique, rustic getaway, check out the gypsy wagons at Ravenwood Castle. Each of the two heated wagons include ceiling fans and a kitchenette, but you will need to bring your own bedding, towels, air mattress or sleeping bag. (Pictured is Gypsy King's Wagon.) 7. Secluded Sanctuaries Tipi Buteo (Logan)
Located within the Hocking Hills area is a traditional Sioux style tipi that features wood floors inside, a queen bed, indoor chiminea and seating for two. Secluded Sanctuaries is located just off of State Route 93, about six miles south of Logan, OH 43138.
8. At Boulders Edge Cabin and Tipi Retreat (Rockbridge)
At Boulders Edge Cabin and Tipi Retreat in Rockbridge, Ohio features a variety of overnight accommodations, including some authentic tepees that are fun to stay in. Each tepee here is a Sioux Native American Indian tepee set on a wooden platform, complete with a fire ring and a picnic table outside. Inside, you'll find a wood stove.
