The Rooms At This Railroad-Themed Summer Camp In North Carolina Are Actual Box Cars

Camp Willow Run is a railroad-themed Christian summer camp and retreat in Littleton, North Carolina. Campers at this interdenominational camp sleep in renovated boxcars. And if that isn't exciting enough, the camp sits on the banks of beautiful Lake Gaston, inviting the water into the recreational activities. The lake is a hydroelectric reservoir formed when the Virginia Electric Power Co. built Gaston Dam on the Roanoke River. In addition to the campers, Lake Gaston brings in hundreds of tourists every year and is a home or second home to many residents. How fun would it be to camp at such a gorgeous place?

Camp Willow Run summer program is available to rising seventh-12th-grade students. The younger ones can enjoy Camp Willow Springs for rising third-sixth-graders.

Each camp's admission is without regard to race, national origin, color, limited disabilities, or religious preference.

The camp offers many opportunities to pray.

And to enjoy many other experiences, such as the low and high ropes courses, which, depending on your skill level, can offer a controlled free fall.

The train's boxcars have been converted into heated and air-conditioned dorms.

An authentic 1911 steam engine and caboose complete the train.
