Today's feature destination is one such place where you can spend the night under the stars in the most unforgettable fashion. A remote campground in Maryland that promises to take you away from it all, Janes Island State Park is magnificent. It's not a fancy resort -- far from it, in fact -- but it has everything that counts: breathtaking scenery, convenient amenities, and plenty of ways to disconnect.

Welcome, campers, to Janes Island State Park! This off-the-beaten-path destination is tucked away on the Tangier Sound of the Chesapeake Bay.

Thanks to helpful park rangers and clean and level sites, you'll find that setting up camp here is a breeze.

You'll have 103 dedicated campsites to choose from as well as a handful of cabin rentals. There are also restrooms and showers on the premises.

As for scenery, you can look forward to marveling at salt marshes, mature pine forests, and some of the most amazing sunsets imaginable.

During the day, take your pick of fun-filled outdoor adventures.

In fact, you can even rent a kayak and head to this pristine beach!

Campers can also rent bikes to explore the park. Other amenities such as ice and firewood are available to purchase, and there's a dedicated camp store with other essentials open seasonally.

As the sun fades, you'll love setting up by your campfire and reflecting on all the day's adventures.

One word of caution: the bugs can be pretty active in this area. This is a natural part of the environment; however, it's recommended to pack some bug spray!

Here's a note from the official Maryland State Park website: "When planning and packing for a trip to Janes Island State Park, we encourage you to consider the following: insect repellent, screen room/tent during peak times, head net or hat with attached head netting, and citronella candles. We also encourage visitors to wear light-colored clothing, as flies are attracted to dark colors."
