The Simplicity Of This Revamped Roadside Motel In Maine Is All You Need This Summer

Lincolnville Motel in Maine offers a charming, vintage-inspired stay with ocean views and a community feel.

There are plenty of places to enjoy a weekend away in Maine. From the coast to the mountains to the trails to the lakes, whatever scenery and natural surroundings you love Vacationland will provide them. While we've found the proliferation of upscale hotels along the coast fascinating (30 years ago would you have guessed that people would pay $500 a night to sleep here?!) we always have preferred the more local spots. Bed and breakfasts have our heart, but this little revamped motel reminds us of car trips from childhood.

The updated version of the classic Maine motel was orchestrated by Alice Amory in the spring of 2015.

It's been operating as the Lincolnville Motel each summer season since!

It's located on 4-acres of land overlooking the Penobscot Bay.

There are 6 guest cabins and 4 guest rooms. And everything has a relaxing ocean view.

The rooms and cabins and sunny and airy with decidedly simple decor.

In fact, you won't find any TVs here. But you will find plenty of books and record players complete with a lending library to keep you busy for any length of stay.

The motel does a wonderful job of blending vintage with modern, owing in part to the sleek white paint used throughout the spaces.

We love that there's a common space here, too. Those who love the community element of camping will enjoy meeting and getting to know other guests.

And during the day you might find it to be one of the peaceful spots on the property.

There's even a coffee and tea area to start your morning peacefully.

Guests also have access to the swimming pool, charcoal grills, lawn games and public decks.

While things here feel hip, it's far from the expensive and polished resorts that you might find closer to Camden. And that's exactly what we love about it!

The Lincolnville Motel can be booked online here. Prices range from about $100 to $75 depending on the month. You can also learn more about it on Facebook. You can reach them seasonally on 207-236-3195. Address: 4 Sea View Drive, Lincolnville, ME 04849.
