Maine is referred to as "Vacationland" for tons of great reasons. One of the most obvious reasons is the beauty found throughout. It's easy to feel relaxed, peaceful and happy in a place like Maine. Another reason is that there's no shortage of places to stay overnight to make visiting a real vacation. This hotel, located just steps from the shore, is a great option!
If you love Maine's lighthouses and seeing them with either a sunrise or sunset, there's no better place to spend the night than at the Hotel Pemaquid in New Harbor.
The hotel opened for the first time on July 4th, 1888 which means it's seen a lot of Maine over the years. And that includes welcoming folks from away who flock here to appreciate the rocky coast of the most beautiful state in New England.
The hotel has ten different buildings, which includes 30 guest rooms and two cottages.
The main hotel has 6 regular rooms and those located in the front have beautiful views.
There are also 6 suites, most of which come with a sitting area and kitchenette.
We also love that the main hotel features a 3rd floor penthouse with a sitting area, kitchenette, marble shower, large bedroom, and views of the Atlantic Ocean.
The individual cottages offer a unique experience. Especially the "Potting Shed" which has vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, a sitting area, a kitchenette and a back porch.
But while we love the rooms it's the grounds and surroundings we love the most. It's lovely just to sit outside and experience some peace and quiet.
In the summer this region comes alive and there's no better way to enjoy it than right here at Hotel Pemaquid.
Enjoy your stay and make sure to check out the lighthouse for both sunrise and sunset for a true taste of the Maine coast!
Hotel Pemaquid is typically open the Thursday before Memorial Day through Columbus Day. You can learn more about the hotel, search rates and availability through their website. You can also follow them on Facebook. They can be reached on 207-677-2312. If you're on the hunt for beautiful lighthouses, we've got the perfect activity! Check out the lighthouse road trip on the Maine coast that's dreamily beautiful.
