This Kansas Farmhouse Is A Peaceful Retreat That Isn’t Far From The City Life

One thing I love about Kansas is that even close to our cities, you can still find quiet escapes. Not everywhere in the country is so lucky: in many places, urban sprawl can spread out for nearly an hour in every direction! Today, we're featuring a unique place to stay near Lawrence, KS that's tucked away in the quiet tiny town of Lecompton, home to under 1,000 people. You might not think there's too much going on in such a small town, but it's not far from the larger cities of Lawrence and Topeka, so you have plenty of options to escape into the more active city life if you prefer! Check it out:

This beautifully-renovated 1857 farmhouse is one of the best vacation rentals near Lawrence, KS. The 13-acre property provides you with plenty of peace and quiet.

I adore this wrap-around porch! It looks like the perfect spot for breakfast in the morning.

Lecompton is about halfway between Lawrence and Topeka. Lawrence, of course, is known as the home of the University of Kansas.

I can see this being such a great place for parents to stay while visiting their KU kids.

As the state capital, there's plenty to see in Topeka.

A visit to the State Capitol is always fun and educational.

Another great attraction in Topeka is Gage Park.

This is one of our favorite parks in Kansas. There are more than 160 acres to explore, and it's even got a small zoo, train, and a beautiful rose garden!
