The Hidden Cabins In Hawaii That You’ll Never Want To Leave
Haleakala National Park offers three rustic cabins accessible by hiking, providing solitude and stunning views.
When you need a little staycation, there are plenty of places to stay in Hawaii. After all, we welcome guests from all over the world, so there's an endless number of hotels, condominiums and B&Bs. Perhaps you'd like to get away from the tourists though? If you're willing to put in a little effort, you can stay in one of these three cabins and find some much-needed solitude and relaxation. Take a look!
Haleakala National Park offers three cabins for guests. To reach the cabins, you'll hike into the crater.
Take the Halemau’u Trail.
This trail offers stunning views of the Keanae Valley.
Reach Holua cabin with a 3.7 mile hike.
It's 5.5 miles to Kapalaoa cabin.
You'll hike 9.3 miles to get to Paliku Cabin, but it's the most remote and peaceful.
These cabins are very rustic and rugged. They have wood-burning stoves, two-burner propane stoves, and twelve bunks with pads. Pit toilets are onsite at each cabin. There is running water at the cabin, but it's not potable, so you'll either need to bring a filter, or pack in your own water.
Enjoy your meals with a view.
The resident geese are friendly and quite photogenic.

You'll want to spend an entire weekend here, or choose to sleep at two different cabins along the way. The cabins are $75 per night and may be reserved in advance. Visit the National Park's website for more information.
