This Historic Connecticut Airbnb Is Straight Out of a Hallmark Movie

A Historic and Nautical Home

This restored Airbnb, known as the Denison Home, is located near the head of the Mystic River. It sleeps 10 guests with its five bedrooms and five bathrooms. 

The home has a storied history, as you might imagine from its age. According to the Airbnb listing, it was built by hat maker John Denison in 1784. It eventually turned into the rambling Old Mystic Bookstore, which contained many maps and first-edition books. Afterwards, it became a bed and breakfast (known as the Old Mystic Inn) until 2019, when the current owners took it over. 

Hallmark-Worthy Interior Spaces

When watching a Hallmark movie, you’ll notice recurring themes in the interior spaces: traditional decor, warm lighting, plush textures, and cozy touches that make every room feel inviting. This colonial rental property has many of the same charming characteristics.

For starters, you’ll find wide-planked floors, antique decorations, a library filled with books, and trim that dates back to the home’s roots. The home has a wood-burning beehive oven, while the walls are adorned with nautical murals by artist Susan Leach. These murals show off the history of the area, adding to the charm of the Airbnb.
