There’s no better way to enjoy the great outdoors than camping. While there are dozens of campgrounds you can choose from in Southern California, there is one that is hiding between sycamore and oak trees and at the base of a canyon near Malibu. In fact, Sycamore Canyon Campground is the place to go for year-round camping in Southern California when you want to immerse yourself in nature and enjoy a little fresh air.
Sycamore Canyon Campground is located in Point Mugu State Park in the Santa Monica Mountains. This state park is home to all sorts of unique landscapes including sandy beaches, gorgeous hills, rivers, forested areas, and beautiful bluffs.
In fact, Point Mugu State Park is a nature lover’s paradise. It is one scenic outdoor spot that you’ll never want to leave.
Sycamore Canyon Campground is just one of the campgrounds available in this California state park. You’ll find it tucked away at the opening of Big Sycamore Canyon and surrounded by a forest full of oak and sycamore trees.
With the tree and canyon views, you really will feel far away from the world and it's the perfect place to get away and relax.
There are 58 campsites in this campground and each can accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs up to 31 feet long. Be aware that only eight people can stay at a single campsite and tents and other camping equipment must stay within the assigned campsite.
You’ll also enjoy many amenities at this campground that will make your camping adventure enjoyable and convenient. You’ll find a picnic table, fire ring, and grate at each campsite. There are also multiple restrooms and showers around the campground as well.
Sycamore Canyon Campground is open year-round and reservations can be made up to six months in advance. We suggest you make reservations as this campground can quickly fill up, particularly during the weekends and around holidays.
While each campsite is beautiful and pleasant, you won’t want to spend all of your time there. You can spend your days exploring the 70 miles of hiking trails in Point Mugu State Park or head to Sycamore Cove Beach. This beautiful beach is just a short walk from the campground.
