Rent an Entire Campground in Northern California for Just $62 a Night
This campground offers stunning natural beauty, endless recreation opportunities, and an affordable reservation fee.
Camping is one of our favorite ways to explore Northern California's incredible landscapes without sacrificing an arm and a leg, and it's an activity that we look forward to every year. If you consider yourself the type of camper who prefers those remote spots without noisy tent neighbors, then the spacious group campground featured here may be for you. Located in a remote region of one of our state's most beloved national parks, it's the perfect place to get away, hang out with friends, and enjoy some spectacular scenery. It is the Butte Lake Group Campground and it's a hidden gem for group camping in Northern California.
Lassen Volcanic National Park is typically less busy than other national parks in California, but it deserves a spot on every bucket list. This park has breathtaking landscapes and a long list of recreational opportunities.
In fact, with so much to do at Lassen Volcanic National Park, you need the perfect basecamp, and the Butte Lake Group Campground is one of the best. For an incredibly affordable rate (be sure to check the website for current rates), you can have the entire place to yourself and it's worth every penny.
Located six miles south of Highway 44 at the end of Butte Lake Road, this NorCal group campground is delightfully remote and situated far away from the other campsites in the area. However, you can still surround yourself with friends and family when you book a stay. This site has a minimum occupancy of 10 people and a maximum of 25 people.
This isolated little campground is perfect for campers who enjoy roughing it — no extra frills needed. The site has flush toilets and potable water, but you'll find few other amenities. However, the recreation opportunities are endless.
Hiking, backpacking, swimming, boating, and sightseeing are all great ways to fill your day. In fact, one of the campground's most popular features is the trail to Cinder Cone Volcano. The sandy trail showcases one of the park's most amazing volcanic domes while also treating hikers to views of the park's most spectacular landscapes.
We also recommend you plan to spend plenty of time near the water. Aquatic adventures are in abundance at the campground. Take a dip in Bathtub Lake or go for a paddle around Butte Lake's rugged lava rock shores. The lake is also a popular fishing destination. Simply put, there's no way you'll be bored while staying at this delightful little campground.
Get away from the crowds and claim a little slice of Lassen Volcanic National Park for yourself when you stay at Butte Lake Group Campground. This recreational paradise is pure bliss, and it's calling your name. For reservation information regarding Butte Lake Group Camp, visit Recreation.gov.
