The Best Arizona Airbnb for a Summer-to-Fall Escape

Located in Lake Montezuma, the Eagle Eye vacation rental seems like the ideal spot to celebrate the end of summer as we welcome fall with open arms.

That between-season time when the weather oscillates between hot and cool is a special time of year for me. It means change is inevitable as we trade unbearably hot days for cooler temperatures. In Arizona, our summers are relentless with constant reminders that we do, indeed, live in the desert — and there's little to no break from the continuous sunshine and 100-plus-degree temperatures until we start the welcome approach to fall.

As time ticks on during the summer, I find myself longing for cooler days when I can spend more time outdoors, while feeling a cool breeze. However, I also enjoy being by the water and have been researching the perfect vacation rentals to spend some time between the seasons. Located in Lake Montezuma, the Eagle Eye vacation rental seems like the ideal spot to celebrate the end of summer as we welcome fall with open arms.

Located in Yavapai County off the I-17 near Rimrock and the Out of Africa Wildlife Park, Lake Montezuma offers an array of outdoor activities while you unplug from the rest of the world. If you're planning a getaway between summer and fall, this part of Arizona is ideal. Around late summer into early fall, temperatures typically hover around 100 degrees during the day and drop to the 70s at night, making it rather pleasant compared to the height of the summer months.

As for a place to stay, the Eagle Eye at Sacred Springs is situated on a 60-foot cliff just above the confluence of Dry Beaver and Wet Beaver Creeks. Due to the riparian location, there is an abundance of wildlife you can look out for during your stay. Furthermore, the water of the creek will allow you to cool off during the day's highs. Feel free to go for a swim or take one of the kayaks or paddleboards out on the water. The 8-acre property has a private beach for guests' enjoyment as well.

As for your accommodations, the Eagle Eye is a barrel-shaped abode that resembles a Finnish sauna. However, instead of feeling the heat of a sauna (or the Arizona summer temperatures), you can escape to your air-conditioned vacation rental. With a double bed, the Eagle Eye sleeps up to guests. And, don't worry, there are no kids around — this property is for adults 18 and older.

This unique capsule also has a small fridge, a microwave, and an induction stove. Outside, you'll find a bathroom and an outdoor shower. You will also have access to communal amenities, such as fire pits, a community room, outdoor games, seating areas, and trails.

Built at the very edge of the cliff overlooking the creek, at the back of the Eagle Eye, is a convex window that allows you to take in the views of the water, the cliff, and the trees as the green leaves start to transform from shades of green to shades of gold. And while you may choose to disconnect from the world at this vantage point, you can connect to the Wi-Fi, although I would only do that if I have to get work done. Otherwise, I'll choose to enjoy the scenery and celebrate the change of seasons.

Are you ready for a between-season getaway in Arizona as the summer heat gives way to cooler temperatures and the leaves of the cottonwoods start to show off their autumnal hues? Book your memorable getaway at the Eagle Eye on Airbnb, where you'll have access to water, hiking trails, and serene scenery.
