Try The Ultimate Nighttime Skiing Adventure At Alyeska Resort In Alaska

Alaska has incredible adventures, and nighttime skiing is right up there! Alyeska Resort puts out some of the most spectacular night skiing in the state. Coast down fresh powder under starlight or aurora borealis, and enjoy the ultimate adventure!

Alyeska Resort is at the base of Mt. Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska.

Girdwood is a small town in the northernmost temperature rainforest in North America. This means that there is above average rainfall, and in the winter, tons of snow!

Mt. Alyeska is what they call a "steep and deep," and the mountain even features North America's longest continuous double black diamond!

It also offers 1,610 skiable acres, and 375 acres of that is lit for night skiing! There are three different lifts open and available during the nighttime skiing hours.

The three trams running at night are the Alyeska Aerial Tram, Ted’s Express, and Bear Cub Quad.

These lifts open up over 2,000 vertical feet of runs for you! This is a great opportunity to hit the mountain during the slower part of the day, as well.

The mountain gets over 669" inches of snow annually.

If there is a rare year where there's a warm spell, there are plenty of snow makers on the mountain to round out anywhere that's looking a little bare! Mt. Alyeska has over 76 named trails, with both expert and beginner levels.

Nighttime skiing runs all the way through 8:00 p.m. in the evening.

This gives you plenty of time to spend the entire day on the mountain, and watch the shift of day to night. The lights from the evening runs bring a certain energy to your rides as the evening goes on!

If you're lucky, the aurora borealis might come out to play during your hours on the mountain.

This is a rare and special treat, especially as Girdwood is far enough south that the aurora isn't always seen often. If you get a run with the aurora, remember to soak it all in!

The season opens at Alyeska Resort Friday, December 13th.

Night runs will be open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from December 19th through March 14th. Over the Christmas holidays from December 19th through January 4th, and spring break from March 5th through 14th, the mountain will be open for night skiing seven days a week!
