1. Humidity
It's not the heat, it's the humidity that'll get you.
2. Car sickness
Our scenery is beautiful but when you're driving our country roads, be careful not to get car sick.
3. Not having any water
Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink... Seems like the state's experienced its fair share of water-related problems. From frequent outages in the Kanawha Valley to the water crisis in 2014 that left thousands without water to drink or bathe in for days.
4. Being called a hillbilly
If you think we're hillbillies you obviously don't know the real West Virginia or any real West Virginians.... but that doesn't stop people from making fun.
5. Flooding
If it rains too much the creeks sometimes overflow their beds and flood the whole hollow.
6. Harsh winters
The winters can be cold and icy, and the roads can be hard to travel.
7. Potholes
After a hard winter. they're everywhere and they will swallow your car! Luckily, the one pictured wasn't in West Virginia, it was in New York.
8. The risks associated with MTR
Some of you may not like this, but there are risks to mountaintop mining that we may not fully understand yet. Some studies have indicated that those living near mountaintop removal sites have a higher risk of birth defects and that the practice has a negative impact on the environment.
9. Wearing a Pitt shirt in Morgantown
Especially risky on game day! We have a rhyme we like to chant about Pitt.
10. Boredom
We only included boredom because we frequently hear people complain that there's nothing to do here. We don't agree with that. There's plenty to do here; just take a look at these amazing hidden gems in West Virginia!
