Here Are 16 Things Everyone In Utah Absolutely Loves

Living in Utah is pretty great, for the most part. While our state certainly isn’t perfect, it has a lot of amazing qualities. Here are 16 things that every Utahn loves.

1. Utah’s Gorgeous Mountains

If you don’t love mountains, you’re certainly in the wrong state! From our red rock cliffs to our alpine meadows, we have so many gorgeous mountains that offer both beauty and recreation.

2. Fresh, Local, Utah Produce

There’s nothing like a Utah tomato, and our peaches, watermelons, berries and corn are the best, too! Utahns love local - there’s just no comparison.

3. Zoos, Arts and Parks

Salt Lake County residents continually support the ZAP program, which helps fund many of Utah’s cultural arts, museums, parks and the zoo. Utahns recognize the importance of keeping these things available to the public at an affordable cost.

4. Our National Parks

How could we not love our Big Five? Make plans to visit Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Arches and Capitol Reef this summer.

5. Our Universities

It’s so easy to get quality higher education in Utah. From Utah State in Logan down to Dixie State in St. George, we have many opportunities for young Utahns to increase their knowledge (and of course, for all of us to enjoy college sports).

6. Thick Shakes

There’s nothing like a Utah shake. When your spoon stands up in the cup, you know you’ve got the good stuff. These shakes are from Iceberg Drive Inn, but even the smallest towns in Utah have a drive-in with tasty Utah shakes.

7. Utah’s Ski Resorts

You certainly don’t have to be a skier or snowboarder to love Utah’s ski resorts! Take in a concert, enjoy a delicious meal at a resort restaurant or ride the chairlift in the summer to hike/bike back down the mountain.

8. Outdoor Recreation

For some, that means hopping on an ATV and hitting the dunes; for others it means fishing from a canoe. Regardless, Utah has plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

9. Utah’s Local Businesses

Utah consumers value the importance of doing business locally whenever possible, and Utah business owners provide us with many quality services and products (yum! Beehive Cheese).

10. Readily Accessible Hiking Trails

Hey, let’s go for a hike! Many Utahns can access a beautiful hiking trail less than 20 minutes from home.

11. Our National Monuments and Landmarks

Sure, we have those 5 national parks, but did you also know about all our landmarks and monuments? They include such wonders as the Ashley National Forest, Dinosaur National Monument, Golden Spike, Hovenweep National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument...just to name a few. Once you know about these gems, you can’t help but love ‘em.

12. A Tasty Burger At One Of Utah’s Best Burger Joints

Utahns go crazy for a good burger, and we certainly have tons of restaurants serving up the best.

13. Community Spirit

Utahns love to gather together to celebrate holidays, special occasions and life in general.

14. Our State Parks

We have 45 state parks, which offer tons of variety. You can ride the dunes at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, learn about our pioneer heritage at This is the Place Heritage State Park, take a dip in the lake at Bear Lake State Park and so much more. Our state parks are often underappreciated, but they’re wonderful places to relax and have fun.

15. The Diverse Beauty Of Our State

Sure, it’s all pretty, but the diversity is what makes our state truly unique. You can enjoy the stunning vista at Bryce Canyon National Park…

...or the quiet solitude of an alpine lake (this is Lake Blanche in Big Cottonwood Canyon).

16.Helping Others

Utah is number one in the nation for volunteerism, and it shows in many ways. Whether we volunteer formally with a church or organization, or just get out and help our elderly neighbors mow their lawns, we value the importance of helping others.

What is something you absolutely love about our state?
