West End is best if you're a Vanderbilt student or in the medical field. 9) The Nations

Still considered up and coming, The Nations has slowly been rebuilt in the last couple of years. From a lower middle class blue collar neighborhood to a brand spankin' new family area with a revamped couple of parks and high rental prices, it just may be your cup of tea.

8) Berry Hill

If you're looking to be close to downtown without the actual "downtown-ness" of it all, then Berry Hill is your spot. Full of single family homes and trees that change color in the autumn, it's a bit of Tennessee paradise.

You'll find Belmont students and well-off families making their home in 12 South. The main strip boasts all sorts of fun restaurants and coffee shops, cult hits like imogene + willie and Sevier Park. It's an upper middle class dream.
