9 Undying Habits That Prove You Can Never Take Philadelphia Out Of The Philadelphian

No matter how far you stray from Philadelphia, some habits are for life. Whenther it's the way you speak, the food you crave, or how you choose to spend your time, you'll always carry a bit of Philadelphia with you. It's particularly hard to escape these Philly habits - which ones stick with you?

1. The way we speak.

We can't help it - jawn's such a useful word, and youse just sounds better than y'all. Oh, and it's definitely "wooder".

2. Buying pretzels from literally anyone

What do you mean, you can't just buy pretzels from random people in other cities? That's lame.

3. Road rage

If you've ever spent any time on I-76, no matter what time of day it is, you've got an excuse to be an angry driver. Also, anyone driving slower than us is a moron, and anyone driving faster than us is a lunatic. Don't even get me started on the rural Pennsylvania drivers trying to navigate the city...

4. Ordering Wit/Witout

Cheesesteaks anywhere else just don't compare, that's true. But if you're absolutely craving one and find a good pizza shop somewhere, good luck with them finding someone who understands how to mix onions in.

5. We need the shore

People in other cities travel the country for their vacations, but Philadelphians are simple: just bring us down the shore - it's our slice of paradise.

6. Ordering breakfast at midnight

Apparently, 24-7 diners aren't a thing throughout the rest of the country. Who knew?! There's no better meal at 2 AM than a big stack of pancakes with bacon, or an eggs benedict way before the sun comes up.

7. Insisting that you "know a guy."

Don't question it - we know a guy.(Even if we don't... we'll tell you we do.)

8. Scoffing at pizza from anywhere else.

New York and New Jersey get a pass. There are even a few decent places scattered throughout the Pennsylvania suburbs, but let's be real, you aren't going to find good pizza if you stray too far from Philly.

9. Weeknight drinking - on a large scale.

Center City Sips takes Happy Hour to an entirely new level and added a new word to Philly slang. If you ask anyone "Sips?" on a Wednesday, they'll know what you're talking about. You'll never see so many suits in one place, and traveling to cities that don't have citywide specials or citywide happy hours is just plain boring.

Of course, these Philly habits are part of what makes our city so unique, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
