These desirable zip codes usually come with a big price tag, and play host to some of the top earning people in the state, and in Minnesota, it’s no different. We rounded up the 15 richest cities in Minnesota based on average income per capita (and gave you the average household income as well) with a little help from ZipAtlas. So make your bets and write down your guesses because here they are:
1. Wayzata
With 16,135 residents, an average income of $34,780 per capita, and an average household income of $87,648, Wayzata is the richest city in Minnesota.
2. Afton
The average income per capita of this 2,600 resident city is $31,230 and the average household income is $89,318, which is the highest in MN.
3. Excelsior
Excelsior takes 3rd with an average per capita income of $30,658 and a household average of $82,471.
4. Eden Prairie
With an average income per capita of $30,138 and a household average of $79,566, Eden Prairie takes the 4th richest slot.
5. Minnetonka
A 20,000 + resident city, Minnetonka's per capita average income is $29,746 and its average household income is $78,530.
6. Chanhassen
The average income per capita in this just over 17,000 person city is $28,898, but the average overall household income is a whopping $84,385!
7. Victoria
With roughly 3,400 residents who have an average per capita income of $28,688 and an average household income of $81,476, Victoria takes the 7th spot.
8. Marine ON Saint Croix
This city of only 2,600 has an average income per capita of $27,532 and per household of $74,338.
9. Long Lake
Long Lake's 4,738 residents have an average per capita income of $27,161 and an average household income of $73,878.
10. Mound
This nearly 15,000 resident city has an average per capita income of $26,911 and an average household income of $66,740, the lowest on the list.
11. Osseo
Osseo has a large population of over 53,000 and an average income per capita of $26,894. The average household income is $76,919.
12. Loretto
Loretto has 3,400 residents, an average per capita income of $26,825, and an average household income of $81,282. (6th highest on the list).
13. Lake Elmo
With 7,583 residents, this city has an average per capita income of $26,752 and an average household income of $78,653.
14. Prior Lake
Prior lake has an average income per capita of $26,677 and an average income per household of $77,097.
15. Lakeland
Lakeland, home to approximately 4,000 residents, rounds out the list with an average per capita income of $26,524 and per household income of $71,352.
